Is your JURA coffee machine spitting milk and not dispensing smoothly?
There are a few common reasons why your JURA coffee machine will spit milk rather than dispensing it smoothly.
It is important to note that this issue rarely requires the assistance of an engineer, and the cost of repairs will likely not be covered by your Maintenance & Care plan.
Here's our check-list. Please run through each step sequentially to help get your milk running smoothly again:
1. Is your container full of milk?
Check there is milk available as the milk fridge doesn't communicate with the coffee machine and it will allow it to try and make a beverage, even if the milk container is empty.
2. Check there is no air being drawn into the system (1L & 2.5L Cool Control fridges only)
Make sure that the metal solid milk tube is fully inserted into the rubber holder at the top of your milk container. Ensure that the black plastic end is fully inserted with the protruding crown no longer visible. You should hear a click when the tube is properly inserted into the rubber part (see photo below)
Additionally, ensure that both ends of the flexible milk pipe are fully pushed into the rubber part on your milk chiller and the spout of the coffee machine.
3. Have your milk temperature settings been adjusted too high?
You have the option to adjust the milk temperature in the product settings for each beverage, ranging from 1 to 10. However, during the machine setup process, we typically set this temperature no higher than 6. This is because adjusting it too high will restrict the milk flow into the frother unit excessively, leading to spitting issues.
Check your product settings for each drink [add link to how to adjust your product settings] and ensure each one is set no higher than 6.
TIP: Use the portion of milk product to test your settings to save wasting coffee
4. Is your milk frother unit blocked?
If the milk frother unit is not cleaned daily using the Milk System Cleaner, the small capillary holes that guide fresh milk and air can become clogged with congealed milk.
If you have a spare milk frother unit (provided with GIGA machines - should be in your white card JURA branded box) then replace and check whether this resolves your milk spitting issue.
If you don't have a spare frother unit then you must undertake a deep clean of your existing unit. [See link here for procedure]
