PSSR Downloadable regulations

The 2000 (PSSR) mandates that all pressure systems, including coffee machines with steam boilers, undergo a yearly inspection. This regulation is designed to prevent serious injuries caused by the release of stored energy resulting from the failure of a pressure system or any of its components.

What Does This Mean for You?

  •  Annual Inspection: Your coffee machine must be inspected annually by a competent person to ensure it meets safety standards.
  •  Written Scheme of Examination (WSE): A WSE must be in place, detailing the inspection and maintenance requirements for your machine.
  •  Compliance: Adhering to these regulations not only ensures the safety of your staff and customers but also keeps you compliant with legal requirements.
  •  Insurance Implications: Non-compliance may affect your insurance coverage. We recommend confirming this with your insurance company or checking your policy documents.

Potential Risks of Non-Compliance:

Failing to have your pressure system inspected can lead to several serious issues, including:

  •  Boiler Splitting: This can cause steam to escape and damage other parts of the machine, such as the screen.
  •  Boiler Popping: This can result in significant environmental damage to your location, posing risks to both people and property.
  •  Failure of another part of the pressure system causing pressurised steam to leak inside the machine causing severe internal damage to the equipment.
