How to tell if your WMF water filter cartridge needs replacing now or later
The machine will give you a heads-up when it's down to 25% of the filter capacity. This gives you enough time to arrange for an engineer to fit a replacement. The alert will pop up only when you turn the machine on for the first time.
To check the remaining capacity and number of litres on the filter, follow these steps:
- Tap the ≡ icon on the drinks menu
- Press the information button
- Select the Filter and descaling option
If there's less than 100 litres of water capacity left on the filter, please contact us via this Support Form to arrange an engineer visit

If it's above 100 litres and it's almost time for your annual service, the water filter will be changed during that service.
If your WMF coffee machine has been turned off for a short period ie for holidays such as Christmas or Easter. You may find that your machine is requesting a water filter replacement.
There is a known issue that this status is flagged up on WMF machines and a call to WMF is required. Where an engineer can contact you over the phone to resolve this error message.
